Reading Club Field Trip
The Reading Club at the Wade Center in Wheaton, IL.
On Thursday, November 13, 2008, the Reading Club went on a field trip to the Marion E. Wade Center in Wheaton, Illinois. We were given a presentation on the lives of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, and got to see many artifacts, such as the Wardrobe that belonged to Lewis, and the desk Tolkien used while writing the Lord of the Rings. We then ate lunch at Pizza Hut and returned to school; the trip was enjoyed by all. »
SCOTT R. DONLEY HONORED BY ILLINOIS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL COACHES' ASSOC.
Senior Scott R. Donley has been named to the Class 5A All State Academic Team by the Illinois High School Football Coaches' Association. This is the second consecutive year a Marengo Community High School student-athlete been awarded with this honor.
To qualify for the honor a player must:
-Be a member of a varsity team.
-Be selected as a First Team All Conference Player.
-Have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 system, or a 4.5 on a 5.0 system.
The Coaches' Association will only honor athletes nominated by their coach with Principal approval. »
MASEF Donation
Thanks to the support of the community and staff the Marengo Area School Education Foundation (MASEF) presented MCHS with a check for $14,400 at the MASEF dinner/auction on Saturday, November 8th. The donation will be used to purchase technology such as SmartBoard, response systems and other technology equipment. The Board, adminstration and staff thank all of the MASEF volunteers who made the evening a hugh success and a lot of fun. To date MASEF has donated over $800,000 to the Marengo area school districts. »
